This project is a collaborative project between the Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) and Bio Resources Development Centre (BRDC), Upper Shillong which is funded by BIRAC BioNEST scheme under the Department of Biotechnology, India. The project has empowered Women Self Help Groups, thereby catalysing economic growth for Sustainable Development. Infrastructure and trainings were given to women bio-entrepreneurs and farmers in Umsning Block, Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya.
This is an on-going project which was implemented during the year 2020 and is conceived on Hub and Spoke model. The project has provided complete infrastructure like the orchid polyhouse of 300m2 each for the ten spokes and 1000m2 polyhouse for the Central Hub and inputs including Tissue Cultured quality planting materials, growing media, fertilizers and other inputs to selected SHGs.
