The International Conference cum Workshop was jointly organized by Bio Resources Development Centre (BRDC) Shillong, Government of Meghalaya and Department of Zoology & Department of Fishery Science, St. Anthony’s College, Shillong in collaboration with The Institute of Bio-resources & Sustainable Development, IBSD, Shillong, GOI, The Energy and Resources Institute, TERI, New Delhi and Society For Ethnopharmacology (SFE) Kolkata, at the Executive Conference Hall, Wollaston Annexe, St Anthony’s College Shillong on 14thDec, 2022. The conference was inaugurated by the honorable Chief Guest Shri. James P.K. Sangma, Hon’ble Minister, Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department, Forests & Environment, Health & Family Welfare Department etc., Government of Meghalaya, which was co-chairs by Dr. Joram Beda, IAS, Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Department of Planning & Member Secretary of BRDC and Rev. Br. Albert Longley Dkhar, SDB, Principal of St. Anthony’s College, Shillong.
The Workshop aimed to promote traditional healing practices through strategies like inventorization, documentation, protection, and incentivization. It attracted researchers, scientists, academicians, pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and traditional healers from various districts. The event featured stalls exhibiting herbal medicines and a health camp for consultations and treatments by traditional healers. Overall, it provided a valuable platform to advance traditional medicine and explore natural products for modern applications.
